Santet to celebrate 20th anniversary at Hammersounds Purwokerto

Purwokerto-based black metal veteran Santet will commemorate its 20th anniversary at Hammersounds Purwokerto on July 9, 207 at Nice Time Alun-alun, Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java.

Seventeen metal acts are listed in the current roster, including Malaysian’s death metaller As I End, Jakarta-based Cadaver, Garut’s black metal unit Zihad, and other well-established bands from Purwokerto, Semarang, Pekalongan, Cirebon, Brebes, Tasikmalaya and Bandung. The show is organized by Verde Musica.

Santet celebrates its 20 years of musical journey which began in 1997, when Budi Bawono disbanded his band Ziarah (founded in 1993) to start a new venture in black metal music. Then Budi is unstoppable and making Santet famous as a prolific black metal act. To date, the band has released 5 full-length albums and submitting totally new tracks (enough for an EP) in two split albums.

The band’s portfolio consists of:

2. Mahar Hutan Larangan (split with Drosophila, Holy Flesh Records, 1999)
3. Enthroned the Black Domain (Disharmony Records, 2000)
4. Babad Kultus Sihir (Master of Disharmony Records, 2003)
5. Pendulum Neraka Jahanam (split with Mourning Beloveth, Master of Disharmony Records, 2003)
6. Tumbal 666 (self-released, 2013)
7. Ritual of Horror (Bajak Neraka Records, 2016)

Last known line up comprises Budi Bawono (vocals), Imam Muthziliyah (bass), The Plink (drums), Adie Hell Thunder (guitars), and Agoes Pow Act (keyboards, synths).

Seremban-based melodic death metal band As I End is on the verge of releasing debut EP titled The Broken Arch, scheduled to be released in third quarter of 2017.

Formed in 2004 as Farewell by triumvirate Shiz (bass), Zul (guitars) and Faliq (drums), the band dropped the name and adopting the current after Faliq departed in 2006. The band went on hiatus in 2010 and reformed in 2016. Current formation consists of Apai (vocals), Zul (bass), Nuar Endwar (drums), Yin NecroManceR (guitars), and Udayne (guitars).

In recent interview with www.Musik.or.id, Budi Bawono explained about the band and the show. He said Hammersounds (previously written as Hammersound) is a gig brand associated to Santet. Last year, two shows were held in Jakarta and Semarang under this name to promote Santet’s fifth full-length album (of seventh overall) Ritual of Horror.

The Jakarta show was held at Grand Charly Rawamangun, East Jakarta on September 11 featuring Grausig, Krematist, Hard to Kill, Almarhum, etc. The show was organized by Bajakneraka Records and Blackustadz Records, a label company owned by Santet’s frontman Budi Bawono.

The Semarang show was held at Grand Charly Semarang on October 8, featuring Cultural, Radical Corpse, Histeria, Propaganda, Jagathing Lelembut, Kamar Mayat 666, Fanasia, etc. The gig was organized by Chaos Organizer and Blackustadz Records.

The alumnus of Soedirman University Law School added he hires local event management Verde Musica to organize this birthday concert.
