South of Grind 3 to rock Purwokerto

Banyumas-based Goeboeg Production reprises its collaboration with Jatilawang South Conspiration to hold the third installment of South of Grind gig series. This time the South of Grind #3 will take place at Nicetime Cafe, Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on July 2, 2017

Fifteen metal bands are scheduled to rock the show, featuring Chalera (Bekasi), Trench Horror (Jakarta) and Notion Baby Murder (Purwokerto) as the gig’s headliners.

Brutal death metal act from Bekasi Chalera is in production of their first studio album, due for release this year through California-based independent label New Standard Elite. The band previously releases consist of an eponymous EP (2013), and a promo CD (2015).

Now-trio Chalera was formed in 2010 by Aji (vocals), Wahyu (drums), Joko (guitars), Rory (bass) and Achmad Fani (guitars). The band is survived by Yogi Bewok (vocals), Achmad Fani (guitars), and Indra Kipli (drums).

Jakarta’s grindcore band Trench Horror has been working 8 days a week to finalize their debut full-length album, scheduled to be released sometime this year. Founded in 2014 by drummer Qory Arianto, the trio comprises Lilik Ramely (vocals), Qory (drums), and Faisal Reza (guitars).

Purwokerto death metal hero Notion Baby Murder was established on February 17, 2011. After releasing a promotional CD in 2013, the band is never stopped to headline gigs around its hometown.

The band’s current line up consists of Handhani Arif (bass), Yohan Catur P (drums), Alpredo Restu BP (guitars), Yudha Tria W (guitars), and Syamsul Huda (vocals).

The Purbalingga-based hardcore act Jengah will promote its debut full-length album in South of Grind 3. The album titled Innerstrength Foundation is a fruition of many years of hard work since its inception in 2011.

Jengah will rock the very show with its best formation ever comprises Telax Worrow Nasution (vocals), Hanzen (guitars), Nur Haryanto (guitars), Ivan Wibowo (bass), and Faiz Setiono (drums).

Ha’ank Tri Putra in recent interview with Musik.or.id said the South of Grind gig series were organized for the first time on December 2, 2012 at Badminton Hall Tinggarjaya, followed by the second installment on May 11, 2014 at the very place. The third edition was planned to be held at the same venue, but had been relocated to Nicetime Cafe due to undisclosed reason.

Goeboeg Production is a prolific event management in Purwokerto area founded by Guse Abdulloh. Since its establishment in 2008, the company’s portfolio consists of Sunday Roxtreme, Pesta Rakyat Underground (3 editions), Purwokerto Metal fest (4 editions), and South Of Grind (2 editions).

Ha’ank, a STMIK Amikom Purwokerto student, disclosed his first involvement in South of Grind  was at the second installment, as show manager’s assistant, delivering food to headliners.
