Southern Gate Darkness Day: the day when the Hell’s gate is opened

A new underground alliance was established in South Bandung, West Java. A bunch of prominent metal veterans formed The Southern Gate Darkness as an answer to address the deteriorating of the underground movement in the area, once known as the most developed one in Indonesian metal realms. Something that everyone would be proud of in the past.

The Southern Gate Darkness was enacted in April 2017 by Gugum SS and Dani Badar from Cadas Underground; Abu Pertala, Zab Dark Barzah, Ugun Avortez, Otoy Ziarah and Bule Barzah. The guys shared a mutual idea to awaken the dormant underground scenes in the area by creating gigs and sharing everything it takes to make it moving. A series of knowledge transfer will be held, from sound engineering to music industry experiences.

As a starting leap, the alliance schedules a gig on Sunday, August 20, 2017. The gig titled Southern Gate Darkness Day: Invation in the Battle [sic] will take place at Beerspot, Jalan Supratman 57 – 59 Bandung.

Eighteen metal band (black metal predominantly) from West Java and Central Java will be showcased at the very show.

One of the most remarkable bands in the gig roster is black metal legion Warkvlt. The band was founded on the ashes of black metal act Impish on June 21, 2013, due to the absent of Impish original members in its lineup. The story can be traced back to 2010, when Ryan Blastphemy reformed Impish with initial lineup comprised Ryan Blastphemy (drums), Sigit Abaddon (vocals), Abah Desecrator (guitars) and Sabach Blashyrkh (guitars). Ryan served as Impish live drummer before the band disbanded in 2000.

Ryan’s version of Impish released EP The Wrath Of Fire (2011), EP The Myst (2011), and Warkvlt (2013). In 2013 they decided to desert Impish and formed a new venture named Warkvlt. To date, Warkvlt has released eponymous album (2013), EP Maju, Serbu, Serang, Hancurkan !!! (2014), full-length Merdeka (2015), and a live album titled Serangan Umum 8 Maret (Live in Hammersonic 2015). 

The band’s Facebook currently uploaded a series of pictures showing the band working on new recording project.

Warkvlt latest lineup consisted of Ryan Blastphemy (drums), Sigit Abaddon (vocals), Abah Desecrator (guitars), Battlestorm (guitars), and Blackstorm (guitars).

Gugum, leader of Cadas Underground, in his recent interview with Musik.or.id said they chose “gate” as the alliance name to symbolize the gate to underground awakening in Southern Bandung has been opening.

The Southern Gate Darkness will donate a half of the concert profit to the people of Palestine.
