South East Sulawesi will witness the return of SUSUA KAMBONGGU, an event series which is held for the fifth time on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Sakuli Village, Kolaka Regency.
The Sakuli Kampoeng Metal, an underground community who maintains the gig series since 2011, will showcase twenty metal acts from around the Province in Susua Kambonggu Chapter 5.
The underground society incorporates local culture and traditional dances within the metal show. They always pays homage to the Kingdom of Mekongga heritage in every Susua Kambonggu issue. Tolaki Mekongga Dance and Gambus Tolaki are two recurring performance acts which always happens in every edition, among others.
This year’s issue will be the most special gig ever in Kolaka underground history. The thirteenth king of Mekongga Kindom, His Majesty King Khaerun Dahlan, will give his speech and officially open the show for the first time.
The Kingdom of Mekongga was the largest realm in Greater Kolaka.
Kolaka-based Pathogenic Bacteria‘s bassist Muhammmad Rizal, who involves in this event with Emotive, a local sound company, talked to www.Musik.or.id about the show. He said Susua Kambonggu comes from local dialect meaning “The chant of my village”.
The gig franchise was held for the first time in December 2011. The next installments were held in January 2013, January 2014 and March 2015, respectively.
The Sakuli Kampoeng Metal’s cultural approaching, and involvement in many social and religious activities around Kolaka, has drawn positive response from local community.

The show is free of charge. The organizer funded the gig by collecting donation from local society and its members.
