Bantaeng Underground Syndicate proudly presents BUTTA TOA METALFEST
Bantaeng Underground Syndicate is back after last year’s successful first event. Following its blissful attainment BACK TO UNDERGROUND show which was held on April 17, 2016 , a new aggressive and promising music festival will be brought on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the same venue KPPN Tennis Court, Jalan Sungai Bialo, Bantaeng, South Sulawesi. The new baby is dubbed BUTTA TOA METALFEST.
Ahmad Rifal Irsandi from Bantaeng-based metal act CEREBRAL VOMIT told www.Musik.or.id about the society and how the young musicians in Bantaeng were motivated to initiate a new movement. He said since Bantaeng’s antecedent underground scene Schizophrenic Sufferer Society was put on the state of hiatus in 2008 (founded in 1992), made the young musicians lost their chances to cut teeth and to express their talent and abilities, as the city became shortage in underground music events.
He and some extreme music enthusiast decided to build a new community named Bantaeng Underground Syndicate in July 2015. The aim was to fill the shoe that Schizophrenic Sufferer Society had left in organizing events and gatherings. Almost a year since its inception, the new league created BACK TO UNDERGROUND gig. On account of lack of experience in creating gig, the youngsters were backed up by Ikin and Antok from Schizophrenic Sufferer Society.
Rifal mentioned Amin, Thamir, Acok, Udhink, Indar, Imam, Anci, Anjas, Ramli, Misba,and Rezky as the Syndicate’s co-founders.
The second event BUTTA TOA METALFEST is set to be the Syndicate’s flagship and will be organized with assistance of 35 runners from APOBI. Butta Toa whose meaning is old/historical land, is the moniker of Bantaeng. To fund the show, the crew does busking and selling stickers in Seruni Beach every Saturday night. They even made a tag sale to gain more cash.
Four well-established bands from Makassar are scheduled to headline the show i.e. CRITICAL DEFACEMENT, EMERGENCY, KIBLAT and THEOGONY.
