Polka Wars premiere music video for latest work “Rangkum”
Jakarta-based alternative rock Polka Wars have published on their Youtube channel a new music video for single Rangkum on July 27, 2017, to precede upcoming EP entitled EPNY.
Polka Wars who gained national attention for their high-acclaimed 2015 debut full-length album Axis Mundi, worked with cinematographer Agung Pambudi who directed the video along with the band bassist Xandega Tahajuansya. Agung is known for his work on Ilham Nuriadi’s 1000 Kilometer, and directed punk band Piston’s music video Titik Nol.
Rangkum starts with three men running on a rail track, and a young man starring at a dropped handbag. The young man (cast by contemporary dancer Al Imran Karim) begins to walk along the rail road. Suddenly his hands are shaking, and after a few walking scenes his body involuntary starts to move.
The uncontrolled body movements shift into a dance. The young man begins dancing and passing some slum areas, a pub, then ended in a room full of white-dressed people, grieving on a dead body which wrapped in shroud. He keeps dancing but no one notices. The song stops, the young man dives backwards and collapse, presumably into the dead body.
The video ends up with someone unveils the dead body’s white-fabric-cover, and turns out the dead body in the shroud is the young man himself.

Polka Wars recorded Rangkum and other EPNY materials in New York in 2015, after winning the Converse Rubber Tracks 2014 competition. The EP is scheduled to be released on August 23, 2017 through independent label Helat Tubruk.
