Profile: Sabbra Cadabbra
Sabbra Cadabbra is an Indonesian metalcore act from Yogyakarta. Founded in September 2013 by guitarist Thabrani “Tephy” Andhari who wanted to have a new musical experience, differed from his then hardcore act Finishing Franklin.
Tephy asked fellow guitarist Yudhistira Gangga from European pop band Eastern Traffic to join force forming a new metalcore project. They picked Sabbra Cadabbra as the new band’s name, inspired by Black Sabbath’s song with the same title from their 1974 album Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.
The twosome subsequently recruited bassist Bella from Sophia, and drummer Dwi Agung from Lost Contact. Bobby Satria joined later as Sabbra Cadabbra’s frontman.
PANDORA
The band started to write their own songs, and commenced recording session in June 2014. Bella suddenly quit and decided to pursue his study. 10 songs were recorded at DJS Recording Studio in Demangan, Yogyakarta. The recording sessions were finished in July 2016. Sabbra Cadabbra’s album project was produced by Thepy and Gangga.
The studio’s resident engineer Bayu Arseta recorded, mixed and mastered all tracks for album which eventually titled Pandora. Pandora contains 10 songs that initially written by Thepy and Gangga, with lyrics written by Bobby.
Malang-based artist Yogi Gustiana designed the cover art works.
Pandora was officially released on July 18, 2016. Drummer Agung parted ways with the band to focus in his clothing business, right before the album launched.

To fill Agung’s shoes during live performance, the band employed drummer Muhammad Ainul “Aan” Haq. Aan was a session drummer who played with an orchestra in Yogyakarta.
Sabbra Cadabbra later fully recruited Aan and bassist Catur Prasetyo “Yoyok” Kurniawan from triphop band Blackstocking as their permanent members. Yoyok previously played with the band as live bassist.
