Profile: SANSKERTA

SANSKERTA is a technical death metal band from Bekasi, Indonesia. Founded in May 2013 by Jati Hadasher and Bimo, both were playing in a deathcore band Ghost in Gallery as frontman and guitarist, respectively. The band was intended to be a side project, due to the barren condition in Ghost in Gallery.

They met After Difficulty’s guitarist Dwiyana Putra Slamet, and asked him to join the new-founded project as bassist. Dwiyana joined subsequently. The three young musicians decided to make it serious. To complete the initial line up, they started to find other musicians.

Dwiyana proposed his high school mate and The Second Broken Tail’s guitarist Andhika “Kibo” as the second guitarist, while Bimo asked to join his fellow high school Alamsyah who at that time played drums for Ceremony of Death. Kibo and Alam agreed to join the flock, and SANSKERTA was born.

They wrote and recorded their first single Purusa Otak Dangkal at ALF Studio, Bekasi, and played in a gig in Bantar Gebang.

In 2015, the band entered Osiris Studio, East Jakarta to record two songs and put forth a short demo. During the recording session, Bimo quit for an undisclosed reason. The new songs were pre-written by Kibo and Alamsyah.

Panic Disorder’s drummer engineered the demo and Bayu from Greenland Indonesia did the mixing.

The Sanskerta’s Demo CD was released in August 2015 by their own music label Blue Lava Records. It contains two songs Lotre and Alea Jacta Est. The demo’s cover was designed by Bekasi-based melodic death metal band Aftermath’s frontman Wawan.

Both songs were listed in Sonus Abortivum Vol. II, a split album released by Indonesian renowned independent label Stillborn Records on May 21, 2016. The split album contains eight tracks from Devoured, Tragedy Kereta Jenazah, Sanskerta and Coffin of Blood.

On February 1, 2017, their official Facebook fanpage posted a video showing the band’s upcoming full-length debut album preparation in Zero’s Music Studio, East Bekasi. Dwiyuna stated to www.Musik.or.id, the band is expecting their debut could be released sometime this year.

Sanskerta is heavily influenced by Death, Rush, Gorod, The Faceless, Beyond Creation, Necrophagist, Entheos, etc.
