The Jogjakarta Corpse Grinder, one of the most influential metal societies in His Highness Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X’s Yogyakarta Sultanate, will organize the 27th installment of NEVERENDING NIGHTMARE, a gig series, on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Arcaf Cafe, Jl. Babarsari No.89, Caturtunggal, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta.

The gig will kick off at 6 PM, vomiting eight prominent and up-and-coming bands from Yogyakarta metal realms. Metal veterans DEVOURED and VENOMED will share the stage with FLESH DIVINE, DETRITIVOR, DEATH ARTERY, DEFACEMENT, TREATMENT and VENOMOUS.

Okky Tambun from JGC in his interview with www.Musik.or.id spoke about the gig. He said the gig was held for the first time on January 10, 2009 at Yobel Studio, Jalan Nologaten Yogya. It was intended to be a weekly studio gig, move from one studio to another. Since the 22nd installment, the show has been holding in cafes around Yogyakarta.

Former WARHAMMER’s bassist said the gig was the brainchild of Roy Agus (then-drummer of Devoured, now Death Vomit), Devoured’s frontman Nyoman Satrawan and members of Jogjakarta Corpse Grinder. The Neverending Nightmare was aimed to scout new metal bands around Yogyakarta.

According to indogrind.com, The Jogjakarta Corpse Grinder was initiated in 1994 by Dede Suhita (former Death Vomit’s frontman). He gathered names like Roy Agus, Camel Damnation, Irwan Mystis, Krisna Baskara, Aji (Down for Life, Solo), The late Anggeng (Brutal Corpse), Gendon (Mortal Scream) and many metal enthusiast in Yogyakarta. Then the JGC was born.

JGC has held many eminent metal concerts such as Benteng Bawah Tanah, Jumenengan Underground, Jogja Brebeg, Neverending Nightmare 1-26 , Hellnation 2010 , Hellnation 2011 , Vibracore 2010, etc.

Okky added there is such a lessening amount of metal band there. He thought this is happened due to Yogyakarta is not developing a new generation of these kind of musicians no more. He blames the lack of financial support to organize big events as the main reason.

The last Neverending Nighmare was held on August 26, 2016 at Reverb X Studio.
