Profile: Interlude Records

INTERLUDE RECORDS is an independent music label from Bekasi, Indonesia. The company focuses in releasing power/thrash metal albums only. The label was founded as Metal Force Records by Banyuwangi-born Fauzi Nurul Amin a.k.a Ucik in March 2015, but then dropped the name since there has been a Colombian label shared similar name. Ucik was former guitarist of now-defunct metal unit Fighter.

The label has been released records from Indonesian power/thrash metal veteran and up-and-coming bands such as Valerian, Lentera, Corpus Java, Nagantaka, and more is coming.

As Metal Force Records, the label started its venture by re-releasing cassette tape versions of Jakarta-based power metal act Umbra Mortis‘ debut full-length album 7th Dimension of Upheaval (originally released independently on October 4, 2013), and Jakarta-based symphonic power metal act Blodwen’s debut Black Symphony (originally released on September 23, 2010 by RedRivet Records). Both cassette albums were published on March 30, 2015.

On May 1, 2015 Metal Force gave a sign they had secured a deal with Surabaya-based power metal band Valerian to release their future debut full-length album titled Stardust Revelation. Some footage and pictures showing the band’s recording sessions were published later. In June a snap preview of Stardust Revelation was published.

August 2015 saw a new signing. Surabaya power metal veteran Lentera (previously known as Guardian Angel/Ratos De Pova/Unicorn) penned a contract to release future works. But their future single Light of the Universe (not to be confused with their 2010 debut full-length with the same title) would not be released under Metal Force moniker.

In his Facebook account, on September 1, 2015 Ucik announced Interlude Records as new name for his core label company, since there has been another label used similar name, and made Metal Force as the second line company. Later Metal Force would re-release albums in cassette tape format only. The name was inspired by Lentera’s tracks from 2010 debut Light of the Universe.

Then new Interlude Records released Lentera’s new single Light of the Universe on September 10.

Ciamis-based power metal act Batosay inked a deal with Interlude on September 22, 2015 to release their future debut EP Eagle Hunt. On October 8, 2015 the label re-released Lentera’s 2010 debut full-length Light of the Universe.

Interlude remastered another Surabayan power metal act Power of Mirantic‘s 2011 debut records. The 2011’s The Conscience was re-released on November 15, 2015.

On November 27, Interlude signed Bogor-based Nagantaka as its new roster. A promotional CD consisted of three tracks was released on December 24 that year.

After a postponement, Valerian’s debut full-length Stardust Revelation was officially released on February 20, 2016, followed by a launch party which was held a month after.

EP Eagle Hunt from Batosay was released on April 23, 2016.

Sister company MetalForce Records released and distributed cassette tape version of Scottish’s power metal act Ascension‘s debut full-length album Far Beyond The Stars (originally released in 2012) in Indonesia, on May 2, 2016. On the same day, the cassette version of Stardust Revelation was released too.

Metal Force released Polish power metal act Pathfinder‘s albums Beyond the Space, Beyond the Time (2010) and Fifth Element (2012) on June 6, 2016 in cassette tape format. Two weeks after, Ukrainian speed metal band Sunrise‘s third studio album Absolute Clarity was released in Indonesia by Metal Force Records, accompanied by Bavarian progressive power metal band Eternity’s End‘s first album The Fire Within.

Cirebon-based thrash metal act Corpus Java was signed in June 2016. Interlude scheduled to release the band’s debut full-length in March 2017.

Interlude acknowledged a new signing on October 8, 2016. This time Kediri-based speed metal act Jayabaya was listed in the roster. In December, Corpus Java’s debut album title Chapter One “Forbidden Gate” was revealed in the label Facebook page.

A new official website interluderecs.com was launched on January 2, 2017. Ambalat, thrash metal unit from Depok was added in the roster on January 5.

Another Polish metal act, Titanium released its second album Atomic Number 22 on January 23 through Metal Force Records to distribute in Indonesia.

The highly anticipated Corpus Java’s debut full-length Chapter One: Forbidden Gate was officially released on April 24, 2017, after a series of album preview in the label Facebook page.

Interlude Records announced a new signing on May 31, 2017. The Jakarta’s power/Gothic metal Crystal Dream secured a contract to release its third full-length album with the label.
