Superboy releases lyric video for Dapur Ngebul
Jakarta-based alternative rock Superboy has released a new lyric video for Dapur Ngebul, their first single in 2017.
Dapur Ngebul (literally means smoked kitchen) is an Indonesia idiom for a situation where one does not care about everything else as long as his/her needs were fulfilled. The song talks about lower class who struggle to fulfill their basic needs.
This single is the first Superboy’s song not connected with late singer Dody, who previously fronted Arockguns, a name that being used before current one.
Superboy was founded in January 2010 as Arockguns by drummer Lutfi Al Ansyori and guitarist Agung CP. After several vocalist tried out, the twosome found Dody in 2011. This formation released an eponymous EP in 2011, full-length album Posesif (2012), and three singles Hujan, Orgil, and Nggak Bokek Lagi in 2014.
Dody died in 2014 due to terminal illness.
Lutfi and Agung decided to drop the name and adopted new one in 2015 when former comedy rock act Seuriues’ frontman Deni “Boym” Iskandar joined the band. With Boym, they re-recorded vocals in singles Hujan, Orgil, and Nggak Bokek Lagi.
Single Dapur Ngebul precedes Superboy’s forthcoming EP, to be released in the near future.
The band’s last formation comprises Agung CP (guitars), Boym (vocals), Lutfi Al Ansyori (drums) and Lofai (bass).
