DEAD CRY is an Indonesian brutal death metal band from West Jakarta. It was formed on 1 May 2013, when now-defunct SEPARATIST guitarist Gatot Purnama Indah met vocalist Bob Julessy and drummer Reno Riziezta, both from Pekan Baru, Riau, and played for SAYGON (slamming death metal) and AUDITORIUM (Gothic metal), respectively.

Bob and Reno relocated to Jakarta to pursue career in a digital printing company. The three agreed to join force and picked DEAD CRY as the band’s name.

Gatot produced and did the bass work for their first single Emosi Tak Terkendali in 2014. The mixing and mastering was done by Botit from studio Gaza. Shortly after the single release, Bob and Reno decided to go back to their home town to pursue another career. The band’s fate was uncertain. Gatot then worked for other project.

In 2015, Gatot decided to reform DEAD CRY. He recruited former ORGAN INTIM‘s guitarist Aris as the new vocalist. Another ORGAN INTIM‘s member Luthfi was roped in as the band permanent drummer. Bassist Wahyudi joined later. This formation entered the A4 studio in Tanggerang to record their debut ALTAR NISTA. Gatot composed and produced all the ten materials. Renowned extreme music label Grind Life Records released ALTAR NISTA in October 2016. The album is distributed in USA by Force Fed Merch.

After the album inception Aris quit the band due to fulfilling his commitment in the workplace. ORGAN INTIM‘s frontman Imam then was hijacked to fill Aris’ shoe.

The latest formation has been busying them self working for their second album, which is scheduled to be released in 2017 by Rottenflesh Records.

Gatot mentioned Cerebral Effusion, Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Disgorge, Jasad, Turbidity, and Dead Squad as the band’s main influence.
